Trees
We took voltmeters, put the “ground” lead into the ground, and stuck the “positive” lead into different parts of small trees. We broke the bark layer, so we could access the living, sappy part.
In rough terms, we saw that the blood of the tree was about -200mV (negative) compared to the dirt. Spring is definitely here in the Boston area, though the trees only have buds. I will compare a hot summer day in a few months.
People
Then try people, first with their shoes on. “Ground” lead still in the ground, red lead touching skin, like the hand or neck. This gave -30 to +30 mV.
Have the person take off their shoes ( all of which are plastic these days, except us old farts who still wear leather soles ). Now the person’s skin registers exactly the same range as the tree, in the -200mV range.
Thoughts
Of course many of us know about the benefits of “grounding”, and the obvious physical & psychological benefits of having our skin in touch with grass, water, dirt. But I was surprised to see
the humans and trees had roughly the same electrical relation to the dirt.
how quickly the person voltage reached the -200mV range after taking off the shoes - it was a matter of seconds.
The shoes put the person into a neutral electrical state, fluctuating little bits around zero from the ground. This gave me the impression of us being literally “disconnected” from the powerful currents pulsing in the spring air.
We noticed that the person’s voltage would clearly fluctuate tens of volts when other people either came close, or went away. This could simply be ambient electric fields of people, but my impression watching it was that there was also a strong emotional/instinctive aspect to the voltage change.
Update 12-Apr-2023
I checked if a leather soled shoe would allow the -200mV connection to the dirt. It does not :(
I only checked for about a minute, so there is the chance that, especially if the soles got damp, there would be a better connection.
Hi Michael, your -200mV measurement jolted my memory regarding the Exclusion Zone (EZ) water Gerald Pollack and others have been studying. -200mV was about the maximum they got when measuring the voltage of EZ water near different hydrophilic surfaces, but that was with micro-electrodes and a distance of around a millimeter or less. It's interesting that humans and trees had the same -200mV measurement, but I'm not sure how scale plays into these findings if anyone has ideas. It'll be interesting to see results in the summer, when the ground may be much drier than it is now.
Right on Michael. we live on a small farm on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada Range. i spend as much time barefoot in the garden as possible. At 85 i am vigorous and wide awake. of course we are drinking good water and eating real food and our air is good more than half the time. Another benefit of grounding is that feet are unconfined and flexible. so ii have excellent balance. i used to wear expensive "lawyer loafers" and worked in tall buildings under high stress. needless to say, i'm much healthier now! Nicer too, i'm told..
At the other end of the body, wear a hat. Get active for awhile then close your eyes directing your attention to your head and take the hat off. i experience a rush of energy when i do that... A release. I love your mind Brother
